Dragonflies Dragonboat Team

 
We only have 2 spots left on our dragonboat team, the DragonFlies! If you're interested in getting on-board, please email me as soon as possible (jpoon@lauandchoi.com). There is a $20 sign-up fee, which includes the team t-shirt and 3 practices. Our race is set for Saturday, July 18th. Come cheer the DragonFlies!

2015 Asian American Heroes

Award ceremony will include recognition of 2015 Asian American Heroes of Colorado, acceptance speeches, acknowledgment of participating organizations, dim sum brunch, a commemorative video and more. Come to hear their stories; come to feel inspired!

Now in its 7th year, Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network recognizes Asian American Heroes of Colorado. This year's heroes are:

Commissioner for Denver Asian Pacific American Commission 
and Denver Immigrant and Refugee Commission
Founder of "This is Me" Program for Heritage Camps for Adoptive Families
Former President of Filipino American Community of Colorado

Yang Chee, Hmong American
Leader, advocate and spokesperson for Hmong community
Founder of Lao-Hmong American Coalition

Howie Solow, Caucasian American
Founder of Shaolin Hung Mei Kung Fu Association and 
Academy of Chinese Cultural and Martial Arts
Co-Founder of Colorado Dragon Boat Festival

The heroes were selected by a committee comprised of members from OCA Colorado, Asian Chamber of Commerce, Asian Avenue magazine, Colorado Asian Pacific Youth Association, Asian Pacific Development Center, National Association of Asian American Professionals Colorado and Mile High Asian Media. Organized by: Colorado Asian Culture and Education Network. The 2015 heroes are featured on the cover of Asian Avenue magazine's May issue.
